OK. Since I can't do any actual work at the moment and the damn plotbunnies won't leave me alone, have a teaser. I don't have a title for this yet, and I can't promise anything in regards to this fic (especially not if it will ever get finished), so, consider yourselves warned. Not crossposting this anywhere yet.

Summary: Welcome to Silent Hill, Adrian.

Adrian pulled the car over, letting it roll out on the gravely shoulder on the side of the road. Five years. It had been five years, almost to the day, since he had pushed the button. Five years of peace and prosperity for all of humanity, and he was finally giving himself tentative permission to believe in the utopia he had created. Five years of working behind the scenes, of managing rebuilding programs, charities, initiatives. Adrian rubbed the bridge of his nose, wearily, then turned his gaze on the road again. The sun was beginning to set, and a fog was rolling in from the lake, wrapping the area where the town should be in a dull white shroud.

He didn't have time for this. Adrian shot a glance at the slim, leather-bound volume lying on the seat next to him. It had arrived by mail two months ago, a journal filled with jumbled chicken-scratch writing that was half code, half paranoid mess. Rorschach's journal. Or at least that was what it purpoted to be. Adrian wasn't quite sure he believed it. What he was sure of, though, was the fact that the last few pages of the journal were missing. They had been torn out. Everything that mentioned his scheme, any hit of it had been torn out. Along with the journal had come a note, written in the same almost unintelligible handwriting. It had simply said: "Everyone must pay a price".

Of course, the first thing that had come to Adrian's mind was extortion. Someone was trying to blackmail him into paying a hefty sum of money for the rest, the important parts, of the so-called journal of the former vigilante Rorschach. Adrian had waited for a second letter to arrive, but there had been none. Just as he was about to forget the whole thing, to put it off as some sick joke, possibly by one of his former masked associates, the dreams had started.

Every night since then, he had been dreaming of a town. He was sure he had never been there before, but still the dreams were filled with such vivid detail as if he had been standing right in the middle of it. He had felt the cold asphalt underneath his shoes, heard the creaking of a door swinging on rusty hinges, felt the fog creep underneath his clothes like the fingers of a deathly lover. He had wandered the town every night, meeting no one. Sometimes, he had thought he had seen a shadow, but most nights, he had been alone. And then, without fail, the sirens had started, and Adrian had woken up in his bed, gasping, his body covered by a sheen of cold sweat.

Careful research had led him to this place. It had once been a prosperous mining town, but had since been deserted, its inhabitants having moved on or died. Thick clouds were gathering on the horizon, and Adrian shivered slightly, pulling his jacket tighter around his shoulders. It was beginning to get quite cold. There might even be snow. After all, he was high up in the mountains.

Starting the engine of his car, Adrian got back on the road, flicking on the headlights in hopes of penetrating the thickening fog. Ten minutes later, their beam glanced over a sign that was posted at the side of the road, just after the bridge he had just crossed.

Since I already have an ending and a few inbetween scenes for this in mind, I think I'll at least attempt to turn it into something more ;).

Haven't seen the movie, but heard much about a scary character called Pyramid Head, lol'd over what Adrian would think of it, and then I read the wiki;

"He also sexually assaults several monsters over the course of the game. The Silent Hill series frequently makes use of psychology and symbolism: Pyramid Head represents James' wish to be punished for his "sins"."

Yes please.

...and Eddie is Pyramid Head?

Haha, this whole plotbunny came from the idea of Eddie as Pyramid Head. Someone on the kinkmeme called Eddie a "rape ex machina", and my Silent Hill infested brain immediately went "oh, so he's Pyramid Head". The rest of the bunny just followed that thought.

LOL, that was me! With my terrible grasp of tenses. Was that you?

Srsly, thank you, we need moar post-series Eddie/Adrian. It puzzles me as to why there are so many Dan/Walter AU but even on OzyCom, the trend is to write them as being together before it ends with Adrian killing Eddie.

I guess it's because Eddie's death started the book, but srsly, there's been D/W that AU-ed before that.

...but hey, in some of the AUs, Dr.Manhattan brought back Rorschach, I don't see how he can't bring back Eddie. I mean, Eddie was his father-in-law. Just bring him back and drop him in Karnak, sometime after squid-day. Surprise, Adrian!

Heh, fancy that. No, I didn't comment in that discussion.

But just so you don't get false hopes: this fic probably won't be very shippy or porny. Most of it will be undercurrents, since I'm going more in the direction of genfic here. Fucking around with Adrian's mind instead of his body. Though of course I do not exclude the possibility of Pyramid Heddie doing what he does best at some point...

I totally agree with you that post-Karnak Eddie/Adrian is just as possible as post-Karnak Dan/Ror, though. I guess what keeps most people (including myself) from it is that there's this big elephant of "you pushed me out of a window to my death you cocksucker" that is standing in the same room as post-Karnak Adrian and Eddie. So that would somehow have to be worked around, or out. And so far, I've failed to come up with a really brilliant idea. Except maybe for Eddie using Adrian's guilt over that to make Adrian his bitch, lol.

Fucking around with Adrian's mind instead of his body.

Well, Eddie is a highly intelligent man, he can totally multi-task.

Except maybe for Eddie using Adrian's guilt over that to make Adrian his bitch, lol.

That's actually what I totally see happening post-Karnak, and why I'm amazed that no one has done it yet. Like, okay, I came across three fics where Eddie comes back, two alive again (Highlander?) and one as a ghost (in Goodbye Amygdala (http://community.livejournal.com/daikontime/12968.html)). In the first two, Eddie just kills Adrian, and in the third, tortures him in an eye for an eye way, but noyay.

Really, what I think is, when Adrian dies, he ends up Eddie's prisoner, but someone eventually realise that Adrian is there because he believes he owes Eddie, and that it's not Entirely punishment (hello, Nelly II).
